Why these probabilities matter

Most wildlife tour operators advertise sightings as if every species is possible every day. That's not honest. Sperm whales feed at depth offshore — they're rare in February when sea state limits how far the boats can go. Pilot whales are resident year-round but sightings dip in January-February storms.
